United Way for Greater Austin sponsors Learn Where You Earn, a financial wellness workshop series that helps employees learn to manage their money, reduce debt and save more. The three-class workshop focuses on practical things like improving credit scores, managing debt and creating a household budget. With the support of their employers, employees can strengthen their financial skills during the workday, at their workplace.
Learn Where You Earn Takes Off
During one workshop at the City of Austin's Resource Recovery Department, participant Robert Garcia learned how to make a budget, and how to find and analyze his credit report. He now feels equipped to start planning to buy a home, and will be able to work with a financial coach provided through the program. United Way is now expanding its Learn Where You Earn program, with a recent grant from FINRA and United Way Worldwide.
