About United Way Ghana
United Way Ghana is devoted to making real social impact within local communities in three focus areas: education, health and income generation - the key building blocks for a good quality life in a thriving community. We envision a society where all people are empowered to lead informed, healthy and productive lives.
Developing cross-sector collaborations with local communities, business organizations, philanthropists, government and volunteers helps us to deliver lasting impact and social change in disadvantaged Ghanaian communities. We believe that through our collaborative work and commitment, we can ensure every individual is able to live a life of dignity.
HOW WE WORK
To inspire social change and ensure sustainable improvements in livelihoods, United Way Ghana has two flagship programs.
Improving Basic Education (IBE)
Social change is highly dependent on an educated population. Over the last decade, our major interventions have been in education because of the enormous impact it holds on future life outcomes.
Our overarching Improving Basic Education (IBE) programme has seen the successful implementation of several initiatives to improve the quality of teaching, learning and creating a more enabling environment for young students in deprived communities to thrive. Our ongoing initiatives in education include the Nyansapo Scholarship Scheme, literacy development outreach programmes, among others.

We are committed to leading the charge to ignite social change, build resilient communities and improve the lives of people who live there.
Socio – Economic Development Program
United Way Ghana’s Socioeconomic Development Program highlights the blueprint for a poverty-alleviating project that is intended to be implemented to benefit poor families who incessantly struggle to acquire sufficient resources to meet their needs especially during the lean farming / fishing seasons when the adequate supply of fishes and/or food becomes unavailable for consumption and commerce. The pervasive presence of poverty within these communities has engendered straits, such as an increasing prevalence of teenage pregnancy, and compels the members of the community to get involved in harmful ventures such as child trafficking in order to make ends meet and ensure their survival. United Way Ghana in an effort to help the poor and vulnerable people in the community, undertakes community needs assessments with the help of stakeholders within the community to identify the ideal interventions to be provided in order to end poverty by empowering individuals and families with the basic principles of sustainability in adult literacy and financial stability. United Way Ghana maintains it’s commitment to promoting strong, resilient and self-reliant communities while contributing to Ghana’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 1 which is concerned with eradicating poverty.
VISION
United Way Ghana vision is to inspire social change, build resilient communities and improve the lives of people in the community.
