United Way South Africa (UWSA) is among the newest members of the worldwide United Way network. UWSA is located in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, which is considered to be the economic gateway and most powerful commercial centre on the African continent. With Gauteng having more than 12 million inhabitants, Johannesburg is one of the largest cities in Africa. United Way South Africa works with local corporations, the government and well-established community impact partners in order to create stable income opportunities for South African youth. It is currently rolling out initiatives focused on creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth, providing business skills and entrepreneurship training for small and youth owned enterprises, and facilitating educational opportunity channels for high school learners through skills assessments, career days, extra tuition classes, as well as trade learning opportunities.

Main initiatives are: 

Education – Creating equal learning opportunities for disadvantaged high school learners, TVET college and university students.
Income - Creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth, providing business skills and entrepreneurship training for small owned enterprises.
Health – COVID19 Response, help administer COVID19 vaccines to underserved communities

HOW WE WORK

Our main initiatives to is help support the creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth, providing business skills and entrepreneurship training for small and youth owned enterprises, and facilitating educational opportunity channels for school leavers through examination re-writes, vocational training and trade learning opportunities.
